Dust mite allergies in the house

   

Recommendations:

  • 1. The bedroom should be dry, airy, and mold-free.
  • 2. The furniture should be easy to clean, and you could choose furniture with smooth, non-porous surfaces that can be wiped down easily.
  • 3. The flooring should not have joints, and should ideally be made of materials like marble, ceramic, or linoleum that are easy to clean. Carpets should be avoided, as they can attract dust and may be more difficult to clean.
  • 4. All clothing should be kept in tightly closed cabinets. Individual garments, whenever possible, should be closed in plastic linings. .
  • 5. Remove armchairs, upholstered cushions containing material of animal and vegetable origin, such as wool, leather, jute, kapok, hemp, vegetable horsehair, hay, straw, horsehair, etc. .
  • 6. Cover the pillows and mattresses used in the bedrooms with pillow covers and mattress covers specific for mites.
  • 7. Change sheets once a week. Blankets should be vacuumed at least once a month and dry cleaned at the end of the season. It is advisable to store them wrapped in a dust-proof casing after treatment with moth spray. During the summer season it is advisable to expose the sheets and blankets to the sun so that the Dermatophagoides are eliminated from direct insolation.
  • 8. Remove from the bedroom soft toys and other objects catches dust. Do not allow animals and do not keep plants in the room.
  • 9. Avoid upholstery, carpets, draperies, and draperies. It is ideal to use curtains made of synthetic material or muslin, easily washable.
  • 10. The use of humidifiers is not recommended. Dermatophagoides thrive in humidity conditions of 75-80%, while they survive with difficulty with perceived humidity below 50%.
  • 11. Do not make the beds in the presence of children allergic to mites, as it has been shown that sprinkling blankets, pillows and mattresses strongly increases the presence of derivatives of the Dermatophagoides in the air.

  • 14. Do not deodorize the environment with products such as cosmetics, perfumes, powders, and insecticides. Avoid smoking in the rooms. Use air purifiers with HEPA or water filters.
  • 15. Do not change shoes or dusty clothes in the bedroom.
  • 16. Don't keep pets in the home.
